Auburn-Washburn USD 437
When making arrangements for a daycare provider, keep in mind that District transportation can be provided only for locations within your child's school attendance area. The Board of Education's policy regarding one designated pick-up and one designated drop-off location does apply to this situation.
Keep us informed! Please be certain you provide your child's school and the Transportation Office with accurate home and sitter's address, in addition to home, work, and/or cell phone numbers for parents and sitters. Always report changes to both the school and the Transportation Department.
Our bus routes are based on your addresses. Therefore, it is vital that your address is easily visible to the bus drivers. This is especially important in rural areas. If your home sets back from the road, please display your address on your mailbox or some type of marker that is highly visible.
Please inform our office of any health problems your child may have that could affect his/her safety on the bus, i.e., allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc. Knowledge of these conditions will enable the driver to respond properly to possible problems.
Jackets with drawstrings, loose clothing, scarves, straps on backpacks, and items attached to clothing or book bags can be potentially hazardous to school bus riders. These items can get caught or snagged on the handrail of the bus as the student exits the bus. Bus body manufacturers and USD 437 Transportation personnel are aware of this potential problem. All of our buses have passed inspection for this safety issue. In addition, upon receipt of any recalls issued with this problem, all corrective actions are completed immediately to insure the safety of our buses.
There will be days when your student will have a substitute bus and/or driver. Remind your child that buses park in the same place in line-up every day. If they ever have questions about being on the right bus, they should always ask the driver if he/she is on the correct bus. All drivers will assist any child to insure he/she is on the correct bus.
